Project between the Academy of the Ministry of Finance and Georgian Technichal University 

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance and Georgian Technical University has finished joint Tax School Project in the framework of the Memurandum between the Academy and the Georgian Technical University. During the course students of the GTU had ability to learn from experts in the field of Tax issues; Raised knowledge and generated professional skills that will help them with their future employment. Students were introduced to the topics such as: legislation applicable taxes, tax control, responsibility and other topics.

Opening of the new student project 

The new project “The law school” was opened in the Academy of the Ministry of Finance. In frames of the project the first planned course on “The Banking Law” was hosted by the Academy. The Academy of the Ministry of Finance closely works with various student organizations and supports their development in the education field. The law school aims to increase students’ knowledge in the field of the banking law, help them to understand how to settle disputable issues in the banking field and becoem familiar with various banking regulations.

Training Courses on Internal Audit 

The first round of requalification for interal auditors from governmental sector has completed in the Academy of the Ministry of Finance. Training was implemented with the support by GIZ and Harmonization initiation. The goal of this course was to develop the internal audit departments in the governmental sector and to increase the effectiveness of the workforce. This program is executed in South Caucasian region for public finances management improvement. At this stage, internal audit training has been conducted for 25 candidates representing 20 public institutions. The course was conducted by invited German experts. ..

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance and London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) has signed the Memorandum of Cooperation 

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance and London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) has signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. Through this cooperation, the partner organizations of the Academy of the Ministry of Finance and other interested candidates, who would be willing to undertake LSBF courses through the Academy would receive 40% discount on any short term courses offered by LSBF . The Academy of the Ministry of Finance suggests the LSBF courses with distance learning method. After successfully completing any chosen course out of 29, candidates would revieve double certificates from both parties. .

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance hosted the first regional training course conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 

On May 20-31 of this year the Academy of the Ministry of Finance hosted one of the phlegmatic training courses about Microeconomic Management and Fiscal Policy Issues conducted by International Monetary Fund for the first time in the region. One of the main goals of the successful cooperation between Georgia and International Monetary Fund is to support economic policy directed towards the development of the country. Nowadays, despite the global economic difficulties, Georgia represents one of the outstanding countries in terms of having stable microeconomic environment and public finance sustainability. Conducting the mentioned training course in Georgia and within its context and discussing Georgia’s successful example means acknowledgement of our achievements by the leading International Financial Organization. In frames of the course the participants were introduced to the ongoing reforms in Georgia and the export of these reforms to the Southern Caucasus and Central Asia. .

The Internship Program of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia 

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance has retrained 70 interns of the Investigation Service. The educational course lasted one month and included trainings in the following directions: Criminal Law, Criminalistics, Tax Legislations, Financial Auditing, State Budget, Legal Psychology, Investigation and others. As a result, students aquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in performing tasks and duties sequentially. This will help them to be successful in the future work. Having finished the program the participants were given certificates from the Academy of the Ministry of Finance.

Selection of Interns for the Internship at the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia

The Academy of the Ministry of Finance held an internship contest for those willing to intern at the Investigation Service. The Academy organized the process of informing the public, electronically registering the candidates and chosing them within three stages of the contest. Candidates passed examinations in the following: professional, general skills, and IQ tests. 1534 people participaed in the internship contest. The goal was was to find qualified standards for the Investigation Service for the Ministry of Finance.

Tax Course for Start-Up Businesses

Within the project, owners of family hotels in Tusheti, were trained on the topic – “Tax Course for Start-Up Business”. The training commissioned by the National Tourism Agency was held by the Academy of the Ministry of Finance. 20 local buisness representatives participated in the training. Students studied business registration procedure; tax laws, and practical accounting. During the course, the Academy of the Ministry of Finance organized a training workshop where local guesthouse owners met local officials for the Revenue Departmment. Here participants had the chance to ask questions and discuss issues that were most important and problematic to them. With these activities the Academy is supporting the new policy of the Ministry of Finance – “Fair, Simple, and Reliable Tax System”.
 

"The Billateral Cooperation Program of Year 2011"

The “Billateral Cooperation Program of Year 2011” was signed between the Ministries of Finance of Georgia and Netherlands. There was an English-language training on the topic: “Tax Audits for Small and Medium Businesses” held at the base of the Academy of the Ministry of Finance. 19 auditors from the Audit Deparment of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the Chamber for Control of Georgia were retrained in the program. The following issues were discussed at the meeting: organizing audits in the Revenue Services of Netherlands and Georgia, the typology of business and situacion, types of internal control, cash flow analysis, evaluation of evidence, and document and data processing. There is another workshop planned in Tbilisi in September of the current year on the topic of tax audit, where employees of the LEPL - Audit Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance will participate.
